Divorce Advice For Women Who Need To Survive A Divorce

Divorce Advice For Women Who Need To Survive A DivorceThe decision to end a marriage is never an easy one to make. It can leave you feeling unprepared, disappointed with life and grief-stricken. For a woman, there are some steps one can take to help cope with this new status. Allowing oneself to go through the stages of grief such as sadness, anger, frustration, confusion and even exhaustion is not a sign of weakness. These reactions will lessen with time and the anxiety about the future will come to pass. Spending time with people who are positive, and truly listen to you without criticism or judgment is one divorce advice for women as you begin your road to recovery.

Women tend to be more emotional of the spouses, therefore leading them to make poor financial decisions due to anger affecting their rationality. A divorce advice for women is taking stock of your net worth. Making a list of all your assets and liabilities should be the first step of taking charge of the situation. Organize a financial file indicating tax returns for the past five to ten years, retirement account records, insurance policies, wills, trusts and other legal and financial documents you may think of. For the sake of the children and to receive what is rightfully yours, negotiate a guarantee of a percentage upon your husband’s business to ensure that you get a cut on all future sales proceeds, profits or income in case he may have started a business which looks promising and has a potential of being a successful business in the future.

Getting back to a regular routine, like maintaining  your  gym routine, book club attendance or even the weekly girls’ night should not be disrupted as these activities could be comforting and could provide a sense of structure and normalcy. Another divorce advice for women is not to make drastic changes and decisions like moving to a new city or starting a new job immediately after as most of these decisions are done under deep unstable emotional feelings.

Taking alcohol or drugs or indulging in a food eating binge is unhealthy and destructive. It leaves you feeling worse in the long run. There are healthier ways of coping with divorce as a woman like taking art lessons, knitting or thinking of setting up the business you have always been dreaming of with your settlement.

However one vital divorce advice for women is being honest with yourself. Asking yourself serious questions in a bid to examine where the problem may have originated from and whether there was a better way in which the situation would have been handled that would not have resulted in separation or divorce. Examine whether you tend to overreact when faced with conflict or stress, or if you have insecurities which may have accelerated the situation to divorce and whether your reactions may have contributed to the problems in the relationship. By being honest with yourself, then the healing process begins and with this objective examination, you may be able to know where you went wrong and to be better informed for when the time comes for you to develop another relationship with someone else.
