Divorces can be very expensive because of the legal wrangling the can occur. Cost of endless litigation can be a huge. However, this need not be the case if you plan your divorce.

1.       Instead of hiring lawyers immediately, get a divorce planner.

A divorce planner allows you to cut down the billable hours for a lawyer and other divorce professionals by helping you get your ideas straight before you have contact with them.

A divorce planner will guide  you to work out what you want and how to fit things into your budget.

2.       Be knowledgeable about your divorce

Learn the ropes yourself, educate yourself about the process you need to complete to get a final settlement and divorce.

Start with researching the legal procedures to get a divorce and settlement in your state or country. There is a lot of information made available by most family courts. You can start to document your assets and liabilities; outline your finances. You will have a positive place to start negotiating from.

3.       Maintain a good working relationship with your ex.

The success of a quick resolution and a faster way to start your new life, is to be to try and have a good working relationship with your ex. Prolonging the divorce with long legal and emotional battles will not only exhaust you, embitter you, certainly cost you but also probably not in the end get you what it is you want. Big legal battles are generally fueled by the emotions around divorce and no matter the outcome of the court case the emotions still have to be dealt with.

Working it out with your ex is the ultimate money saver in a divorce.  With the help of your divorce planner, it is easier to carry out specific steps to make the divorce run smooth, plan for after the divorce, and get to understand your emotions and how they are contributing to your life and actions.

Divorce planning is relatively new to most countries with different divorce planners offering different programs. A good divorce planner will help you organise not only the legal negotiations but also the personal aspects of the divorce.
