A Single Parents A – Z

by Eileen Marie. Single Working Parent and Part Time Writer
Single Parents A-Z
Always put yourself first
Because you need to be there for the kids and putting yourself first assures that you will be well.
Can you make your time your time and
Dedicate the time you have with the kids as their time
Every few moments you have to yourself think of the
Few times you have to enjoy the small pleasures of life that
Good times come with bad times but you
Have everything you need to be the best parent. Don’t forget to
Include all that you have done and all that you will do
Just stay grounded and in the moment.
Keep striving to achieve patience understanding and acceptance. You are never too old to
Learn anything and everything you can to be a good parent.
Make sure you don’t let life get you down
No matter what the circumstance the
Occasional blunder or obstacles we encounter
Provide us lessons that we grow from.
Quite often you will come upon situations or people that you may not understand but
Resist the urge to judge others especially in front of your children because
Seldom will you have another chance to undo what you may say or do.
Try taking a deep breath before you react.
Underneath it all you have what it takes. We all are
Very attuned to what divorce does to our psyche.
Where others may not understand what you are feeling, just be
Xtra careful to take care of you first and
Your children will benefit and you will be filled with
Zeal to see your children succeed and be the best they can be.

  1. Great poem. I think your line “Keep striving to achieve patience understanding and acceptance” is the most important. Patience and acceptance can get us through pretty much any situation. That said, acceptance is not synonomous with weakness or caving in. You still do your best, but don’t get hung up on outcomes or results. It’s a present-moment mindset which can help in difficult circumstances and help enjoy joyous moments.
